The CISTER Research Unit is opening one invited scientist position, with ref. SENODS/BCC/01/11, in the area of techniques and technologies based on Wireless Sensor Networks for implementing Cyber-Physical Systems such as those related to energy-efficient management of large-scale data centres. The work is to be developed under the SENODS project (ref. FCOMP-01-0124-FEDER-012988), funded by the European Union – FEDER fund (European Regional Development Fund) through COMPETE (POFC - Operational Programme ''Thematic Factors of Competitiveness) and by National Funds (PT) through FCT - Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, in the following conditions:
1. ÁREA CIENTÍFICA Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering
2. FORMAÇÃO ACADÉMICA The candidate should hold a PhD, and should have already a good record of publications in top venues related to information processing in sensor networks.
3. DURAÇÃO E REGIME DE ACTIVIDADE The position is for up to three years contract.
4. OBJECTO DE ACTIVIDADE/PLANO DE TRABALHOS Invited scientist position in the area of techniques and technologies based on Wireless Sensor Networks for implementing Cyber-Physical Systems such as those related to energy-efficient management of large-scale data centres. The Work Plan will involve: i. Analysis of techniques and technologies based on Wireless Sensor Networks for implementing Cyber-Physical Systems; ii. Study of ICT for energy-efficient management of large-scale data centres; iii. Scalable Data Processing in dense WSN deployments.

6. ORIENTAÇÃO CIENTÍFICA E LOCAL DE TRABALHO The work is to be carried out at the facilities of the CISTER Research Unit of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, under the coordination by a member of the Unit.

8. MÉTODOS DE SELECÇÃO E COMPOSIÇÃO DO JURI The Jury responsible for the selection will be composed by Dr. Eduardo Tovar, Dr. Miguel Pinho and Dr. Stefan M. Petters as effective jurors, and Dr. Nuno Pereira as substitute juror.
Assessment criteria will be: i) quality of CV and adequateness for the targeted research area (70%); ii) motivation and research statement (30%).
