9th International Symposium on High Performance Concrete (HPC 2011) Christchurch, New Zealand 8-12 August 2011
The preparation to the Symposium is turning to its very active stage. We received an encouraging number of paper abstracts, but due to the continuous demand from the colleagues from all around the world we decided to extend the paper abstract submission deadline to the 15 October. It would be very appreciative if you could advise your members of this stimulating news. The paper abstract submissions can be made at www.hpc-2011.com/papers/papers.aspx
You may have some concerns since there was an earthquake in Christchurch the host city of the Symposium. There are some buildings being damaged, but this mostly affected brick structures. All the modern concrete multi-storey buildings including the Symposium venue and surrounding hotels are intact.
Miraculously no one was killed or seriously hurt. I can assure you and the members of your organizations that the 9th Symposium goes ahead as planned.
The timing and the venue for an International Symposium on high performance concrete is perfect and I believe that Symposium can make invaluable contribution to the re-construction of Christchurch and other places in seismic active zones.
